Admission requirements

Degree: Degree in business administration or technology at a university, university of applied sciences or (Baden-Württemberg) Duale Hochschule with 210 ECTS and final grade of 2.5 or better.
Very good proficiency in German and English
Applicants with degrees in the following may be admitted: Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Sciences, Business Administration, Technical Economics
Proven interest (e.g. internships/study subjects) in technical backgrounds in the field of production or logistics, proven e.g. via internships or relevant subjects.

Special admission requirements

Important for applicants with 180 ECTS

For admission, you must complete an additional 30 ECTS points of coursework and examinations before starting your studies. The selection of modules to be taken depends on your Bachelor's degree and is agreed in a Learning Agreement with the Dean of the programme. We will discuss with you the subjects to be taken - the aim is to make you fit, for example, as a business administration student in the technical field or as a technician in the business administration field. Please contact us early so that we can clarify the details individually.

At the Studienkolleg of Konstanz University, you can find out free of charge whether your non-German degree qualifies you for a Master's programme in Germany and whether you can be admitted to a university in Baden-Württemberg. Project-based Master’s – learning under real conditions

In the Operations Management degree programme, you work in a team on complex projects together with companies or research institutions right from the start - using your expertise from various disciplines.

Structure and content

Operations Management is a project-based Master’s degree programme. In the first and second semesters, you and your team will each be given a concrete task and develop solutions independently - supported by our professors from the field of industrial engineering.

You will carry out your project in close contact with industrial companies and/or research institutions, gaining specialist knowledge for the project in lectures that you put together yourself from the range of courses on offer.

Via our wide selection of electives in the areas of technology, business administration, logistics and production, you will acquire essential, up-to-date skills that will not only help you in the projects, but also later in your professional life.

Operations Management addresses the following questions:

How do I plan new products and production facilities?
How do I implement digitalisation in production and logistics?
How do I develop and optimise production systems, new logistics services or maintenance systems and processes?
How do I design supply chains (with a focus on e.g. global and local supply planning, offshoring, outsourcing, reverse logistics, risk management, spare parts management)?
How do I use machine learning, robotics and artificial intelligence in manufacturing companies?
How do I develop and plan international logistics strategies in logistics networks or technical logistics solutions, e.g. intralogistics?
How do I optimise energy management?
How do I bring about efficiency increases in production, trade and services?

We recommend that you write your Master's thesis in the third semester in cooperation with a company abroad. There is an optional semester abroad.

Your qualification profile
