A Parisian palace, a German ambassador and numerous guests of honour: this was the setting of the awards ceremony for the presentation of the 16 Excellence and 4 Dissertation Prizes by the Franco-German University (FGU). Those present at the Palais Beauharnais, the residence of the German ambassador in France, included Johanna Daum. She is a graduate of the BSc International Management Double Degree (IMX) course and was awarded the Excellence Prize by the FGU.

“It was a great honour to accept the prize at the ceremony and in the presence of Stephan Steinlein, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in France,” said Johanna. “The friendship between Germany and France is important to me and this event reinforced its significance.”

Johanna Daum was chosen to receive the prize by a panel of academic specialists. The decisive factor was her bachelor’s thesis entitled “Franco-German students and alumni and their European identity: A theoretical framework”. The prize of 1500 euros is sponsored by the Association Réalités et Relations Internationales (ARRI). The award is not only a monetary prize, but is also intended to put the winning graduates in contact with companies and institutions which are committed to the Franco-German relationship.

For Johanna Daum, the Excellence Prize awarded by the FGU makes the perfect ending to her Franco-German BSc International Management Double Degree programme at the ESB Business School at Reutlingen University and at the NEOMA Business School in Reims. She remains committed to the friendship between France and Germany: “I was particularly pleased to be able to get to know my sponsor Robert Diethrich at the awards ceremony. And the conversations with the other award-winners and with guests from the worlds of politics and business were also inspiring. I'm very grateful for the support I’ve received during my degree course and I’m looking forward to what the future will bring.”
