Successful start to studies for international students
As part of the "get staRTed" project, Reutlingen University will offer a preparatory semester for international prospective students beginning in the winter semester 2024/25. This new programme will focus on language-based study preparation. Additionally, student advisory services, programme-specific and intercultural courses, as well as a leisure and excursion programme are intended to facilitate integration and ensure a successful start to students’ studies.
The "get staRTed" project at Reutlingen University is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) with 1.2 million euros as part of the FIT programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The aim of the FIT programme ("Promoting Academic Success and Labour Market Integration of International Talents”) is to prepare international students for their studies, to ensure their academic success and to facilitate their integration into the German job market.
"get staRTed" significantly enhances Reutlingen University's international portfolio. The project is managed and implemented by the Reutlingen International Office, the Institute for Foreign Languages and the Center for Entrepreneurship in cooperation with the university’s five schools.
The project is now entering its first phase with the preparatory semester. The curriculum includes intensive German courses at level B2 and a TestDaF preparation course, as well as tutorials and individual advice on language learning. Additionally, resources and guidance for independent learning will be provided. Support programmes for study orientation and for subject-specific, intercultural and personal preparation for university studies are also available. Leisure and excursion programmes complement the “get staRTed” project.
The application deadline for the preparatory semester in the winter semester is 31 August 2024. Applicants must have a recognised university entrance qualification and proven German language skills at level B1.
